Fagor to open service-oriented plant in Chicago
Fagor Arrasate, Arrasate, Spain, will build a new plant containing a bridge crane-serviced shop and offices outside Chicago. The facility is meant to strengthen the after-sales service, engineering and spare parts inventory while strengthening Fagor’s relationship with customers in a market that exhibits high demand. The new facility will be operational by the end of 2020. Its location will be announced later.
Amada America opens factory
Amada America Inc., Buena Park, California, opened a 190,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing plant in High Point, North Carolina, in early December. The first products manufactured at the new plant will include automation systems and Amada’s HRB series of press brakes. Amada America will also open a 62,000-sq.-ft. technical center on the same property later this year.
Weiler Abrasives raises money for charity
The employees of Weiler Abrasives Group, Cresco, Pennsylvania, raised more than $40,000 in an annual campaign benefiting Pocono Mountains United Way. The company matched that effort with a $60,000 corporate contribution, bringing Weiler’s total donation to $100,000. The money raised will support Monroe County programming initiatives that address poverty alleviation, healthy food access and critical housing needs for local families.
Laguna Tools acquires Dake Corp.
Laguna Tools Inc., Irvine, California, has purchased Dake Corp., Grand Haven, Michigan, a move that provides Laguna with a diverse platform for the continued development of its metalworking line of products and services. Laguna acquired SuperMax in 2017.
HGG equipment pairs with PypeServer software
HGG, Medina, Ohio, has partnered with PypeServer, Renton, Washington, to provide full compatibility with HGG’s 3D pipe profiling machines. PypeServer’s Enterprise software will be available as an option for HGG’s PC600 and PC900 3D pipe-profiling systems alongside HGG’s proven ProCAM software.
Eriez expansion supports activities
Eriez, which builds material handling and other equipment, broke ground on a 38,000-sq.-ft. expansion to its Wager Road facility, 15 miles from its headquarters in Erie, Pennsylvania. The expansion will support growth initiatives for repair, testing, and global research and development activities. Completion of the addition to the Wager Road plant should occur later this year.
Radian announces partnership
Radian Laser Systems, Anaheim, California, tested the Filtrabox fume extractor from PAT Technology Systems Inc., Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Canada, with the new Radian laser marking module at Fabtech 2019. Based on the results, Radian Laser Systems has decided to partner with PAT Technology Systems Inc. to offer its fume extractors for use with Radian laser marking systems.
